Whew, Some Days Off!

Posted on

Tuesday and Wednesday are our days off and they didn’t come soon enough for this “retired” couple! That first week of work seemed to not want to end.

Tuesday we headed off for Downieville and the laundry room. Nice, clean place with about 6 washers and 2 dryers. And only $1.50 a load and 7 minutes for a quarter! Can’t beat that. We got our laundry in and then walked the town. The grocery store/deli is a small store but the produce looked good. No prices anywhere to be found so don’t know how much they charge. I also found a nice pair of hiking shorts with deep pockets for $20 but they were in powder blue. I would get them so dirty on one hike out though.

After leaving Downieville, we stopped at all the campgrounds between here and our turn off to Graeagle. At Wild Plum in Sierra City we met the camp host, Toni and Reva. Toni boasted about being the Bathroom Queen and to see her restrooms I can tell why. They were almost spotless. They were also freshly painted on walls and floors so that helps a lot.

We stopped to see the Sierra Mountains which still had snow on them or glaciers. Very beautiful.

Dale just has to show off that he uses the Elks!

We were on our way to visit Janet and Ralph who are staying in Graeagle. We travelled with them last winter to New Mexico. It was very good to see them again. We had a great time catching up face to face. Ralph had invited us to dinner with them at the Elks Club which Dale is a member. It was spaghetti night.

One great salad bar!

For $8 we got a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs and a salad with all kinds of toppings. Drinks were extra. Being a good girl, I took only half of what the server was dishing out to everyone. I was stuffed on what I ate anyway. I did save room for one scoop of ice cream with chocolate and whipped cream!!!

A toast to friendships!

We had a great time and will venture back to the Elks Club next Wednesday night for a ti-tip dinner. Yup, anything to get out of cooking! That’s my motto!!!

Hey not a bad deal on the cost to do laundry – now triple that and that’s what we pay…. Hey how hard would it be for Jorge to join the elks – wouldn’t he have to be sponsered first? I love pasta but have to stay very very very far away from it – errrrr the effects of weight gain is too grand…. Glad your having a great time – and I so love the pictures Gwen….

Yes, he would have to be sponsored. I think Dale could do that. We joined at Susanville because it was easier and not so costly. Have Jorge email Dale for info. We joined because an RVer can stay at their lodges for next to nothing or free. Some have full hookups and other has a parking lot.

We are going back to Bouse, AZ and camp in the foothills just out of Bouse. Bouse is 25 miles from Quartzite and about the same from Parker where there is a Wally World.
