About Gwen and Dale

This is us....This blog is about Dale and Gwen and their travels. As a couple, we were married in 2000, March 17 to be exact. We had been doing the camping and backpacking thing and decided to buy a trailer. We bought an Areolite 21′ trailer, pulling it with our Durango. We went everywhere with that trailer and had so much fun. In 2001 we acquired a dog. She goes everywhere with us. Well, in our 21′ trailer, we were getting cramped. The reason: The dog was getting bigger! She is a Golden Retriever. So we started our search for a 5th wheel and found a used 2000 King of the Road 32′ in Roseville, CA. This was in 2004 and we had to purchase a truck to pull it. We have a 2004 Dodge RAM 3500. Our first travels with the 5th wheel was to the Oregon coast. I then took a job at Howard Prairie Resort and we lived full time in their campground from April to October. In 2006, we decided to sell our home (we weren’t in it that much anymore) and live full time in our King.

On 2007 we decided we needed a bigger unit. On one hand there is the Motor Coach and on the other hand the 5th wheel. We started our search in Salem, Oregon at the RV Fair in 2007. We found a model there that we had to have – a  Carrige Cameo, 36′. Amazing what 4 feet and an extra slide does. Our living space double or more.

Dale retired on June 17th, 2009 and we left Howard Prairie. Our retirement has begun.

Dale keeps his own website – http://www.rvecafe.com where you can find just about anything RVish. Dale has three children and was his own employer for about 20 years. He was with RCC for 10 years until he retired. He wore many hats there. He is also a new grandpa!

I was working at a coffee/bakery before I found the Howard Prairie job. I started as prep cook there moving up to line cook. Last season I moved over to housekeeping.  My hobbies are knitting and digital scrapbooking, beading and I am learning to quilt. I love to read and write.

We have a dog, Morgan and a cat Annie. They are best buddies. They travel with us and NO, we have never lost Annie. We can’t keep her in but she does find her way home. We think it is because she knows where her food is and she comes back for Morgan.

Gwen I love your outlook on life. We too have a 40ft King of the road that we are fixing to be living in full time. I will have to get some questions answered on digitial scrapbooking later. My husband is building me a scrapbook station in the home on wheels. Just wanted to say hello. We will be following ya’ll.

Hi Cindy! How exciting to be fixing up your “home on wheels.” We loved our KOTR! Alas, it ended up to be too small.
Ahhh, digital scrapbooking. I haven’t done in for a few years now but it is so much fun. I love that it is all on your computer or extra hard drive and don’t have to carry all that paper and accessories! But I know some people who scrap like the hands on approach to scrapping. Whatever your preference, you can take your craft on the road and it looks as if your hubby understands this.
When do you foresee hitting the road?
Life is good! God is good.

Hi Cindy…we too had a KOTR and we loved it. Alas, it became too small (32′) and we didn’t like the plans of the new ones at the time. So we moved on over to the Carriage.

Lucky you to have a scrapbook station! Woot! Woot!

Hope to meet up with you one day. And always available for digital scrapbooking questions!
