We’ve Gone to the Birds

Posted on

Our Fig tree was full of birds yesterday. The fog had lifted and the sun was out, so hungry birds flocked to our back yard tree.

We have been have so much fun watching the antics and community of birds using the feeders. We are learning to identify the Junko’s Finches, Towhee’s and Flickers.

We had some friends that were avid bird-watchers that we hung out with about 15 years ago. I wish now I would have had the patience to sit and watch something I didn’t know and learn from them. It’s never too late to learn, right? We bought “Birds of Oregon Field Guide” by Stan Tekiela. We purchased this book from our local bookstore, Books Gallery. It has helped us identify the birds visiting us. Like the Flicker which is a woodpecker. The birds in this photo are Lesser Goldfinch.

The Goldfinch are the yellow colored birds and the bird in the fore front is a House Finch. The bird sitting at the top on the limb is a Junko.

Fun times at Timber Valley SKP Park of Oregon – right here!

Life is good! God’s riches for us are amazing!

We have these birds as well. We have House Finches and Purple Finches, and they are often very hard to tell apart. I love their mating colours – they look like they’ve been dipped in raspberry sauce 🙂

Hi Gwen, Dale did receive warm welcome arriving here just after 4 p.m. and I did have our meal just about ready as thought he would be hungry plus Dorana & Robin are always ready to eat. I was sorry Sandy could not stay but she did take me to Costo for few items and fill the tank but now see we will go in the truck because of the wood he is bringing. He has been busy all morning putting in the disposal and as my Dad would say just a ten minute job that takes several hours.. Thanks for pizza plus the home made sour kraut as I have some chicken sausage that will be perfect. Also for the two heavy pans the skillet & stew pan as I did find a place on the catch all shelve and I will be anxious to use them. Also the blue berry muffins and the other muffins that Dale would not share with Dorana but took picture to send to her. He does love to tease his sister in love He found one reason the disposal would not turn on the switch was broker so another job to do. Nice to be able to do all these things.!! Enjoy your new car but I always miss you so hope you will get this way some time? Lo ve, Mom
