We Get Shade

Posted on

Our lot has a negative. In the summer we don’t have any shade. Now, you know me. I love the sun and the heat. Dale not so much. However,  sitting outside on our deck in the summer means sitting in the sun until about 4 p.m. So this isn’t very comfortable and we can’t get out of the sun. We threw up a tarp on the outside awing over the deck when we arrived in September. That didn’t look so good and we were afraid we would have others coming by to let us know – “That’s a NO NO!”

Dale felt the solution to this problem was to plant a tree. So we went tree looking and decided on a maple tree. They turn a beautiful fall color too! Dale went out today and bought a Red Maple and got it planted.

Checking out the exact placement of tree.

First, rake up the rock covering the perfect spot for the tree.

Dale had to go borrow a pick to get a good start on the hole.

Shoveling time to make the hole the exact size need for the tree.

Our neighbor must of been watching Dale as he hurried over to help Dale get the tree out of the truck! How nice of him.

It took some ingenuity to get the tree out of the pot. At one time Dale was sitting on the side of it bouncing up and down. It finally came out and Dale rolled it into the hole.

Is it straight?

Final touch! The border.

Our tree is in and hopefully it will provide some shade next summer! We have been saying to each other that we may not be around when the tree provides max shade! I am hoping it provides some privacy between us and the neighbors!

As to who gets to rake up the leaves? Still to be determined.

Life is good. Thank God for trees and their beauty.

I love to see Dale working. Go Dale! And hopefully the little tree will grow fast and give you some much needed shade next summer. Love you,
    Allie

Thanks Sue. I hope we do too. We have many trees in the park that brought us some lovely color. And when the leaves fell, the ground was stripped in color! Oak trees are cool! The mighty oak!

We have red maples in our front yard. The fall colours are just beautiful, unbelievable. I hope you get the same glowing next fall.

Maybe when you get home you can send a photo of your front yard!!! Not many leaves left here. Enjoy your journey. It was great meeting and getting to know you.
