Oceanside, CA Part 2

Posted on

Every year my daughter and her kids take a trip on our birthdays. Dustin, Lesa and I have our birthday in November and Court is 10/28. So this time of year is perfect for us to do something fun as our big birthday present. We do tend to gravitate to the ocean and this year was no exception.

On Friday after the kids returned from their event (which they found and had a good time with their friend) we hopped in the car and headed to the beach. We found Oceanside to be a very nice community. We thought maybe in summer it would probably be totally touristie because of the evidence of the condos/townhouses for rent on the beach. These condos stretched for miles. However, we enjoyed the laid back life of the town.

We parked down by the jetty and marina and walked clear to the pier. Lesa’s workout program said we walked about 4 miles and our bodies that night agreed, especially our feet.

The pier juts out into the ocean with Ruby’s Restaurant at the very end. We didn’t walk down the pier but did go up top to watch the surfers try to get maybe 5 seconds on a small wave. We later learned some surfers were having a class.

We did cruise town and we found a Farmers Market. There were a couple of blocks of street blocked off for food vendors and anything you can think of vendors.Yet, there were only two tables of fresh veggies and fruits! Courtnay found a pair Snookie sunglasses.

We dared question her "awesomeness." She's precious.

We passed up the chocolates on a stick for a cupcake. Lesa got a German Chocolate and I got a Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake. Delicious!

Gorgeous flower...
Bird of Paradise flowers were everywhere!
Dustin, Lesa, and Courtney enjoying the ocean!
I couldn't resist 'wading' in the cold water!
Children playing in the sand left us sandcastles.

Many bikers were out the day we left on some ride. Dale would have joined them if he was with us.

Pelicans following the charter boat into the marina.
Condos, palm trees and ocean! What a way to live.

I would like to come back here for a while and soak up what this community enjoys year round!

This is our last birthday trip for the next 3 or 4 years because the kids are moving to Germany in April of next year.

Life is good. 7 more sleeps until I see my hubby again. Then back home to the RV and the folks.

Whose that short person between Dustin and Courtney on the beach with the rocks in the background? And, is that an upside down pig with a bunch of teets you made in the sand?

That short person is one of the most awesomeness moms and wives walking this earth! She has the most giving and loving heart. She also treats her mom like a queen. Im so very proud and humbled of my daughter.
