Fun, Fun, Fun

I know you have heard this before, so sorry to be repeating myself. But we had the most awesome time this morning. We are in San Antonio, TX and we went on a Segway tour. Dale, Ralph and I went and none of us have ridden one of these contraptions. So we were a bit apprehensive because we would be out in pedestrian traffic and vehicle traffic. Well, take a look at these photos!

On a Segway for the first time. Don't I look scared!

An old theater - the Majestic.

We are in front of the cathedral that holds the ashes of all the hero's of the Alamo.

Our last stop of the 2 hour tour by Joseph was at the Alamo.

Standing in the compound of the Alamo, which the church is behind us.

We left SegCity with big smiles on our faces because we had so much fun. We endorse Segway tours now.

To ride a Segway seems complicated but it really isn’t too bad. The machine needs to balance and then you step on one foot at a time. To go forward you lean forward. To turn you use the stick to turn the way you want. To slow down you bend your knees and stick out your butt. Seriously. When you are in a holding position you will always be moving a little. Anyway, we ended up very comfortable even on busy sidewalks. People do get out of our way!

We learned on this tour that since Texas was a country of it own it can fly its flag alone or just as high as the United States Flag. The Tower of the America’s is the second highest single pillar tower in the US. We also learned to go up to the bar in the tower at happy hour and you can ride for free! So we went up.

750 feet high.
View of San Antonio from the Tower of the Americas.

So today was incredibly fun and tomorrow will be a tour of San Antonio by trolley and a tour of the River Walk by boat. We didn’t think we needed more than 4 days here but we were wrong. That just leaves more to do next year because we have to come back.

Life is so very good! God reigns from His throne in heaven.

Gerald’s jealous – he’s always wanted to try riding one of those. I’d have been giggling so bad I’d likely have fallen off 😉

Great pictures. Gosh, that Segway tour looks like a lot of fun. Never heard of one before. Looks like the way to go though.

Dawn, it was so much fun. Pricey, but a once in a lifetime event. We walked a lot of the route we took on the Segway today and we did cover some territory. Thanks for the comment!
