Desert Rain

Posted on

For the last week our skies have been cloudy, cloudy, cloudy. We would get a sprinkle but the wind dried it out so fast nothing had time to get a drink. Well, today that all changed. The sky broke out all the rain it has been saving up for us.

Since it was another cloudy and icky day we decided to go to Parker to the movies and dinner out at the Bluewater Casino. We stopped first to pick up some things from Wal-Mart and wished we hadn’t! The store was crazy and full. After that we headed to the casino which has a movie theater. They also have special deals during the week. Today was a free small drink to go along with our bucket of pop corn. The movie seating isn’t all that big and the screen is right in front of you even when sitting in the back row! Ear plugs are a must. Well, for me they are since I have tinnitus and the loud noise makes my ears ring louder.

We bought tickets to see “The Tourist” with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. It was an okay movie. Had a twist of course and we didn’t see it coming. One guy, who didn’t have a very big part, was Timothy Dalton, an old James Bond. We had a good time and we were out of the rain for a while. We then went to the casino for lunch buffet only to find that the buffet was closed until 4 pm for dinner. So we had 30 minutes to kill. We went and put money in some machines only to lose it all. Our friends, Kathy and Terry went today also and signed up for their VIP cards. Each card get $10 free play. Well, they hit pay dirt and left the casino with $60 in their pockets. So we have decided that the VIP cards with free play wins and using your own money becomes their money! 🙂

Tonight was the Boise/Utah Bowl game and our house was rooting for Boise Broncos. Yay, they won. Now we wait for the BCS Bowl featuring Oregon Ducks and Auburn. That happens in January.

I received my yarn today from KnitPicks. My friend, Penny, sent me a gift certificate for my birthday and I bought yarn to make a sweater. I can’t wait to get started. But first I need to knit up a hat for Chloe. I got the yarn in the same package to make her a cup cake hat….brown on the brim, then a pink body with beads, and topped off with white frosting and a red pom-pom (cherry) on top. Pattern is from Knitpicks. Tomorrow will be knitting day.

I have been busy beading bracelets for the gals in my family. Beading has almost become an obsession! It is so much fun.

Dale and I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this season bring happiness and peace to your lives through our Lord Jesus Christ who we remember in December. For me, well, I don’t know what I would do without Him in my life. He makes life good!

Blessings from our home to yours!!!
