As we women know, having a girls day with family and friends is a great adventure and time well spent. Being with women (especially family and friends) lets us be who we are as women. We can let down our hair and talk about many subjects, laugh until tears run down our face and shop till we drop!
With that in mind, Lesa, Courtney and I took off for Nevada City/Grass Valley on Saturday to have a “girls day out!” We left early to catch the Farmers Market in Camptonville. The season is winding down for fresh fruit and veggies so the pickin’s were slim. The girls toured Camptonville since they had not been there.
We left Camptonville and headed south on Hwy. 49. This road is a windy road that set between the mountain and the ravine down to the Yuba River. It is a beautiful drive with the oak trees and pine trees shading the road. As we were doing S-curves and horseshoe cures we came upon a truck waving an orange flag. The sign on his truck “Cows in road.” Yep, a roundup was happening right in the middle of Hwy 49. I did a video because once we rolled down our windows you could hear the …….. check it out.
The rounderupers at the beginning of this herd were not paying attention to the traffic so we had about a mile drive at 5 miles per hour! Lots of “in a hurry” drivers trying to pass cows and cars. We enjoyed the experience of “herding” and watching the cows come down the mountain.
We had a wonderful time together with lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken, hitting the yarn store for wool yarn for a purse I want to knit and felt. (If I find a pattern I like!) We had some great chats and our Miss Courtney is growing up and joined right in with our chats. We got home in time for us to do the rounds of the campgrounds and Dale to go ride his bike.
Life is very good! Our God is our Provider. Amazing!
