We have been working hard! Overseeing six campgrounds involves much paper work besides manual labor. We have aprox 93 camp sites to maintain. And with those campsites we have 20 toilets to keep spiffy. After all, the camper is paying $21 for a cramped sited in the dirt so clean bathrooms is about all we can give them along with a clean site and ash free fire pit.
Our campgrounds are the first to open and the last to close. At 2200 feet in elevation and the N. Yuba River this is a popular place. Temperatures have been anywhere from 80 to 100 degrees the last few weeks. Therefore, our campgrounds have been full on the weekends and just now slowing down during the week. Of course, this weekend we don’t have one spare camp site left. And to top it off the skeeters have come out in full force to play and eat.
CLM realized the work a seasonal workcamper does for them and to show their appreciation they took us all out to dinner. All the camp hosts met at Los Dos Hermanos Restaurant in Sierraville, CA. Sierraville is about 50 miles to the east of us so we once again had to do that awful drive on Hwy. 49. How many people would drive 100 miles for a free dinner!!!!
We have gotten to know a few of the hosts and everyone has been so nice. A great bunch of people to work with. The man standing in the photo (Red) is the right arm of the guy who writes our checks. (I am thinking the owner but I don’t know for sure.) They are from Coarsegold where we thought we might live one day but nixed that idea.
Larry, manager of this part of the company, gave a very nice speech to tell us all what a fantastic job we have done and are doing and how much he appreciates us. Red also spoke to us on behalf of CLM. Larry then handed out some goodies (along with a thank you card) and Connie, Larry’s wife, gave us our dessert!
Sierraville is a very small town but this Mexican restaurant has some very good food. I had a veggie burrito and it was delicious. Everyone was pleased with their meal. So if you are in the area, stop here for lunch or dinner. You won’t be disappointed.
So far I have to say that CLM isn’t too bad a company to work for if you have to work. Our experience has been a positive one so far.
Life is good and God is amazing.
