Las Vegas, NM

Today, Friday, Dale and I found out how agile we aren’t and how much stamina it takes for the players at Wimbledon. Yes, we hit the Las Vegas Cardinal’s tennis courts to have some fun, good laughs and exercise. Since it has been yearssssssss since we have picked up the ol’ racket, we sure did need the practice. We do play a set and Dale whipped me 6-1. I will get even tomorrow! We did try to let Morgan play with us but she thought our ball was better than hers.

When we first went to old town on Monday we found ourselves in the midst of a fiesta going on. The town square was full of people. Vendors lined the square with their food or wares. A band was playing in the gazebo. Everyone was having a great time. Our first fiesta!

Street leading to the Plaza Square.

Over this last week, we have gone to breakfast, walked the town, stopped at the Salvation Army and picked up 2 plastic bags of books for $1. I found the series I wanted to read – two books. Dale found some good books also. We also found a redbox to rent movies that we have missed over the last year. We watched “Men Who Stare At Goats” last night. Some funny spots but not what I expected.

Yelp.com rated this a place not to miss. Breakfast was awesome. Dale had the Spanish Skillet and I had a stuff Sopaipilla covered in green chili sauce. Ham and eggs were the stuffing.
Breakfast.
Silly us at breakfast!

There are three old hotels in Las Vegas. We have found that there are many old, old buildings here. Some restored, some not. Lots of history here.

Plaza Hotel built in 1881. Sits on the town square.
Train station. The Visitor Center is located here on Railroad Ave.

Right now, the police are looking for the body of a boy who drowned yesterday while swimming. So sad. Folks have gathered all day long and many are camping on the lake. Just waiting.

We will leave this spot on Sunday and head to Heron Lake State Park. Tomorrow will be wash day and errands. Dale is taking off to La Cueva for a 3 hour bike ride. I get the truck all to myself!!!

Finally caught up to your many adventures, I’m tired out just reading about all you two have been doing haha. You both have been so blessed to be able to fulfill your retirement days with so much of what you’ve wanted to do..May our Heavenly Father continue to bless you both.
