Catch Up Time

Posted on Updated on

I need to catch you all up on what we have been doing. We have been out and about so many days that by the end of the day the last thing I want to do is blog! Dale is so faithful and I hope you have been to his site (link on my site) so that you know some of what we have been doing.

But first I wanted to get us started with this!

From Photobucket

Isn’t he cute!

Before we left Alamogordo, we stopped off at the Space Museum for a few hours. We weaved in and out of space stuff and up and down 4 floors learning about the space history of our world. The stairways (ramp ways really) were lined with people involved in the begging of space to the explores of our universe.

We enjoyed our time in Alamogordo but when Wednesday of last week came, it was time to get the wheels rolling again.

We headed down to El Paso to Costco and had a great time there. The city wasn’t as big as I thought it would be. We just hit the freeway and got out! Stopped in Las Cruces at Hobby World to pick up some yarn. I am putting together a surprise for our Rolling Rally in October. Then off to Demming to spend a crappy night at the Dream Catcher RV Park. Too close to the freeway and trains. I hope never to see that RV park again. Don’t get me wrong. It is a nice park and friendly people, just not one that helps ya get a good night’s sleep!

Dale in a simulator landing the space shuttle! He didn't crash!
Our site is just to the left of this garden.

We finally made it to City of Rocks State Park. This has been a place that Dale and I have wanted to visit since the idea of touring New Mexico lit a fire under us. Out in the desert between Demming and Bayard lies these rocks. It is the only place in this area these rocks are found like this. We were reminded of the Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA.

We parked our rig and set out to find just the right spot. The first spot we came to was perfect so we moved the rig there so no one would take it while we had to go see what was around the corner! We walked the complete park and decided our first choice was the best. And let me tell you it is! We feel like we are alone up here.

Next stop, Silver City!

When we stopped over at Dream Carcher on our way back West we stayed in the boondocking area, and across the way at the motel a pumper truck was pumping the septic system and it smelled really bad!! We rolled into Reno today after a wild, windy, dusty ride from Tonopah. As soon as we hit town we were off to Costco and Trader Joe’s.
