Lots Going On

Posted on Updated on

Sorry I have been away. We are just having too much fun, I tell you. I think I left off with photo’s of Ajo. Here are some of the fiddler’s photo’s I took. We had a great time at the contest. We ended the weekend on Sunday at the Gospel Songfest. The place was packed! There we all kinds of instruments at this event. Harmonica, mandolin, steel guitar, guitars, violins and the bass. The audience was able to choose songs to sing and the contestants performed also. It was fun seeing these people sing and play and having fun rather than trying to win a competition! The kids who played (ages 11 -14) were amazing. One group, the 80+ group had two contestants – and 80-year-old and a 94-year-old. Both played with exuberance. We didn’t go to the Sunday event after the Gospel Sing because it was Super Bowl day. Doris had us all over for the party and we all

Super Bowl 44

brought food – of course. We were able to get in out of the cold wind (Dick and Doris rig) and sit in comfort to watch the game. It turned out I was the only one cheering on the Saints. Needless to say, I was the only happy face in the group and doing the happy dance. Everyone else went home with long faces!!!! Oh, Peyton look what you did!

Watch video here….

Doris taught me how to use this new fangled Knifty Knitter round loom and I put together a hat in no time at all. Although, we really need to test out the time of knitting a cap versus looming a cap. I have made two caps now and trying tomake a scarf on the thing. Not having very good vibs going on this project.

We left Ajo on Monday and drove about 45 miles to Organ Pipe Cactus National Park. More on

that later. To say this place is beautiful is an understatement!

This is some of our group (in chairs). Others sat up in the front row.
This was his first contest and boy, was he green. Hope he comes back next year.

    Gwen and Dale:
Thank you for your blog. I enjoy the commentary from both of you.

I was with you, cheering for the Saints. I would rather say: “Oh, Drew look what you and the the team did!” rather then “Oh, Peyton look what you did!” I was stationed at Keesler AFB in Mississippi for many years and so have wanted the Saints to win a Championship for 43 or 44 year.

Isn’t it ironic that that they had to defeat the son of Archie Manning who played his who carer as the Saints’ QB with out ever going to a Super Bowl.

Again, thank you for your commentary. It is interesting to read.

Great job, Gwen. I have a journal that I write in at night but this is way better.

Ralph went to a class on Picassa at the club house yesterday and learned how to use that program to do a web picture page with a map showing you where exactly the pictures are taken. He is going to play around with it some since we use Picassa to organize our photos on the computer anyway. That way some of our friends can be invited to see what we are up to. Yours and Dale’s sites are way more sophisticated but this will do the trick for us.

I thought Mexico was a fun day and it is always fun to share with friends. Thanks for the invitation!

    See you on the road….

Thanks, Janet. Actually, WordPress does it all on this website. I just add text and the photo’s. The background, print and all is done by the website. It is so easy. And it is free.
Yep, Mexico was fun and I am still chuckling over our giggling about the road signs and well, everything. It was an excellent day! Put us on your list of friends so we can keep up with you as you travel!!!!!
