We have had some pretty wet weather with a lot of high winds. We need to go somewhere warm and dry out!

In the mean time, I have knitted a cap for Caps for Cure and worked on crocheting coasters. That has been fun since I really don’t know how to crochet.

We did try out a very popular place according to Yelp for dinner. We went to Anna’s which by the way is not on the building that houses the restaurant. Wine & Bistro are painted on the front of the building.

We entered this very small room that had a total of 14 seats including the bar area. Beyond the bar was the open kitchen. We decided to go with Yelp comments and ordered the cheese plate for an appetizer. I went with the Mexican Shrimp that got high marks on Yelp. Dale had the cod.

Dale chose a German Riesling wine that was very, very good. He had only one glass though!

When we left Anna’s we were totally disappointed in many aspects of the place and the meal. My comment was “They need Chef Ramsey to come in and redecorate, redo the menu and teach them how to cook. For the money we paid, an hour for a meal was a total let down. Our plates were a glob of onions, celery and oil. The shrimp and the cod were good but the rest of the plate was lacking in flavor and color. If they would have given us a lime or lemon to add some flavor to the fish that might have saved this but not likely. Dale had cooked celery on the side while, like I said, I had grilled onions swimming in oil. Two small potato puffs topped off the meal. We didn’t get a good veggie, like asparagus that you would think would come with a meal costing $18.

My final thoughts on Anna’s is that all his friends wrote the comments on Yelp! Because his food was blah, not creative and a big blog of brown. So, not a good experience for us. We haven’t commented on Yelp and don’t know if we will. We were misled and don’t want others to be misled like we were however this is a small town business so bad marks don’t feel that good.

The ocean has been pretty rough and every time Morgan and I go down to the beach the high tide is in. Or it is raining! LOL…hopefully before we leave here we will get in a good beach walk.

We will be moving on to Sutherlin on Monday to take a look at the Escapee Park we have our name on the list for. We are 22 on that list.

Life is good. God brought some sun today. Awesome.

As the title says, this photo was taken with my phone through our bedroom window.

There’s a tradition at Ireland’s and I don’t know the origins but campers/visitors to Ireland’s Rustic Cabins and RV Park are encouraged to grab a rock off the beach and paint it with whatever they choose. Most people do something in  “ocean” art along with their name and year they painted the rock.

The rocks are placed on the south and north side of the lighthouse observation tower.

The observation tower, as you can see, is still pretty sturdy and safe to climb up to get a panorama view of the Pacific Ocean. One might also see a whale out there during migration.

Today I have been fighting the connection between my phone and my computer to download these photos to Adobe Photoshop. I finally got the problem fixed, however, when I synced my phone with my computer I came up with some photo’s that are not on this computer but on my external hard drive. I am scratching my head over this one, BUT one of the photos on my phone is of the rocks we painted back in 2005 while here in November for my birthday. Lesa and grand-kids were able to come over and stay the weekend with us. It was a glorious and gorgeous weekend and birthday!

Now I know what I am looking for in the rock pile. Let’s hope I can find our rocks. We used water based paints and the paint has probably washed off in the last 6 years.

Well I see my computer problems are following me to this blog. Don’t know where the underline came from but it keeps changing from red to black but won’t go away. I’m giving up!!!!

A few days before the storms at sea the ocean was tranquil.

January 5th became the action out-to-sea day which brought in some pretty big waves. If you can tell in these photo’s (I’m using my Droid Razr camera) you can see waves way out that are huge.

Morgan and I went down to the beach to take our morning walk, however, we had to walk in the weeds as the ocean was all the up on the shore.

Lots of sea foam covered the inlet of a creek to the right of us.

I’m glad some sunny, warm days followed this storm and we were able to get out and walk the beach. Today is a little overcast but not so cold we can’t get out! Moran and I did this morning but the tide was in so I “threw the stick” and let the dog run.

We are getting some much-needed rest and a good dose of laziness! Life is good. God’s presence is seen and felt.

Our weather has been off and on sun, wind, rain and now we are under an alert for high tides and flooding come Thursday and Friday. We also had a Tsunami check on the sirens but I had our oven fan on and almost heard it. We really didn’t want to hear any more “warning” sirens since our time in Mississippi this past spring! 

Regardless of the weather, we are enjoying our stay. We are experiencing January weather on the coast. Hopefully, the sun will come out toward the 3rd week and the temps will warm up for the false spring that usually comes to Oregon. We can wish!

We were able to catch the weather at its best to get a beach walk in yesterday but no so today. The wind is strong and cold.However, Dale and Morgan are out the door. Morgan is in her element and loves romping on the sand.

On our hike the other day, we passed this conifer with red berries growing under it. Looked rather Christmas – ee.

I want to post some photo’s of Noah Riley. He is the cutest kid! I can’t wait for him to grow up to see where that smile and happy nature takes him! Also, Chloe has a horrible rash and we are waiting to see how she is. They were off to the doctor today.

Resolutions: As I was in the shower this afternoon (after our 2 mile hike on the beach in the SUN) I was thinking about resolutions. When we think about resolutions we think about how to change our life in some way and then a few months into the year we have forgotten those promises to ourselves. There is one resolution we all should make and KEEP! This resolution shouldn’t be ignored or forgotten by us. This resolution is one that needs to be done every month. Have you guessed yet? Yep, checking your breasts. Men should do this also as they are not immune to cancer cells. My N.D. in Grants Pass also checked into my armpits and the lymph glands. Dale and I are trying to be good with our eating. Our colds have kept us inactive but we did get out this morning for a good walk on the beach. The ocean was calmer today and the SUN (did I mention this before?) is out with blue skies and NO wind. A beautiful day here! We are using an app called MY Fitness Plan. We can key in all our foods and get nutrients and calories. This app also allows us to scan a bar code of a product and it gives us all the info! So what happens when I have a good week either under or right on my calories per day? I gain .5 pounds! Since we already eat pretty healthy I attribute this to NO exercise. LOL.

      Thought for the day.      We have just ushered a new year in.  My thought for the day is to live in TODAY. We can’t live in the past because that is over and done with. We can’t live in tomorrow because tomorrow never comes. We can only live in today, the present. Today is a precious gift from God. (as present describes) May we look for the blessings in today. May we look for ways to grow and mature in today. May we keep our mind and heart on our Lord. His promise: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares  the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Dale and I are very much enjoying our time of rest and relaxation. I pray your day has been blessed by the hand of God in ways you never thought of! Happy New Year!

We are in our favorite RV park overlooking the ocean (view from our side windows is awesome). There are 3 other rigs here who look to be living here. One rig had their awing laying on the grass. Oops, someone didn’t put it away when the high winds hit yesterday.

I have to say though, it is warmer here even if the rain and wind are playing havoc outside. (Not warmer than 75 though Ralph!) It is 54 at 7 p.m. and that is what it was at 10 a.m. this morning.

Our friends are here too so it was good to see them. We went out to Panther Pizza for dinner and had some good food, good laughs and good stories. It was fun.

Now, I think Dale and I are going to hunker down for awhile and get over the crud we picked up in Reno. And the weather helps us do that! Keeps us inside for a spell.

We are here in Reno to help out with Dale’s son, Ben, and wife Kim. She had surgery this week and can’t do any big lifting – like a 27 pound daughter. So, we are here to keep an eye on the kids so Kim can rest. Dale and I have gotten to know Chloe better. We are now Papa and Nana and it has been a treat and a blessing to be with these two new grandchildren.

Noah, who is 3 months going on 4 months is such a delight. He coos and talks and throws back his head in a big laugh. The other Noah is a cranky butt but not for long. He is a happy baby.

Miss Chloe, on the other hand, is a 2-year-old. Need I say more? She is still one busy girl, not stopping for a moment. She is a big eater too. I have been able to lay on the floor with her and color; play airplane (ugh, she’s heavy) and she even let me put her down for a nap. I hope this time together cements a long-lasting relationship between us.

To help Kim rest, we bundled up Chloe and took her shopping. Now, mom and dad warned us she isn’t a good shopper. We didn’t have any problems with her at all. She was totally on her best behavior and had a good time. Our going to two stores turned into four stores but she enjoyed the whole experience.

Her favorite son right now is “Jingle Bells.” So we sing rounds and rounds and she is getting pretty good with the words. Especially the “HEY” part. She also enjoyed all the bumps in the parking lots so we made sure we gave her an extra thrill going over them. Oh, the things grandparents do to keep kids happy.

At Costco we visited some of the “free” foods and we bought her some grapes. (We will be eating grapes for a month if they last!) Here she is in the cart with Papa. She was sort of a stinker about getting in the seat and wanted to ride in the basket. (this grandma had tremors about her falling out of the cart.) Here she is sitting on said grapes!

Lunch time rolled around and not wanting to go to a restaurant and spend a lot of money and not having the child eat it, we opted for Wendy’s in the Wal-Mart. Yes, I know, fast food isn’t all that good but for $3 she had a good hamburger and apple juice. I won’t mention the french fries that were suppose to be apple slices, but she gobbled them down as we shopped through the store!

I don’t know who-wore-who out but Chloe went home to a nice nap and her grandparents went home to wrap presents for Christmas morning. Then back for an evening with good food, good company and play time again with Miss Chloe! Oh, some of her favorite words: NO, again, again, ready-set-GO and Mommy.

Christmas is ready to happen in the Prohaska house. Dale and Ben put together this easel to Chloe and Noah from Great-Grandma Doris. We will head out to their house this morning for a quick breakfast and then open presents with Mindy and Scott, Joe, and the rest of us. I can’t wait to watch Chloe and see if she catches on to Christmas.

Life is good even if it is 14 degrees out! God be glorified in our country at this time for sending His Son.

On a sad note: My daughter, Lesa and grandkids, Dustin and Courtney were supposed to stop by and spend the night with us as they travel to Oregon. However, the truck’s fuel pump went out so they had to stay home. I really, really miss them. Merry Christmas my loves.

We arrived in Reno to a sunny 39 degrees. That night it was 15. Tonight it will be even less as it was 14 when we went to bed at 10pm.

We have been taking care of Chloe and Noah during the afternoons while Kim has surgery. She came home today and the kids were so glad to see her. Chloe goes to preschool and has fun making things and playing with the kids. She is 2 now and showing those ‘those terrible two’s.’ We have managed to get around her much of the time but she is one smart cookie! She loves pushing the boundaries.

Tomorrow night we are having dinner with Dale’s daughter, Mindy and her boyfriend, Scott. My daughter and kids will pass through here on their way to Klamath Falls and they will spend the night. I hope I can keep them warm enough.

I was at Wal-Mart at 10 p.m. after unsuccessfully getting a propane bottle filled. I was buying a heater. Success! It was darn cold last night in here. I thought we were out of propane totally but spaced checking the valve. It was turned off when Dale removed the one tank. Duh on both our parts for not turning it on.

Christmas is fast approaching. I hope everyone is done shopping and ready to get some cooking done and spending quality time with family. I pray your holiday season will be filled with joy, God’s peace and grace. May we not forget the reason we are celebrating – Christ’s birth for the redemption of mankind.
